At Tipply, accessible from tipply.app, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Tipply and how we use it.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regards to the information that they shared and/or collect in Tipply. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.

By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
Information we collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible. When you create an account we receive your email address from your sign-in provider (Google or GitHub), and you choose a pseudonymous username that is your public identity on Tipply. We also record a simple yes/no attestation of whether you are of legal drinking age. We do NOT collect or store your real name, a profile photo, a phone number, a postal address, or your date of birth. Our Google and GitHub sign-in is requested with minimal scope — your email only — so we never receive your name or profile picture from them.
As you use Tipply, we store the content you create — recipes, ratings, comments, menus, bars, and shopping lists — associated with your account. If you contact support, we keep the message you send and your email address so we can reply.
Your public username appears on the content you share (for example a recipe or comment). Whether you can be found by other members in search is controlled by the 'discoverable' setting in your account, which you can change at any time.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our website
- Improve, personalize, and expand our website
- Understand and analyze how you use our website
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
- Communicate with you about your account — for customer service and important updates relating to the website
- Send you transactional emails (for example account, invitation, and support messages)
- Detect and prevent abuse
Usage analytics
We do not keep server log files of your IP address, browser type, or internet service provider. To understand how Tipply is used we record simple pageview events — which page was viewed, when, and (if you are signed in) which account viewed it. We do not build advertising or demographic profiles from this.
Cookies
Tipply uses a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences — these are required for the site to work. With your permission we also use Google Analytics to understand usage; it loads only after you accept it in the cookie banner, and you can choose 'Essential only' to decline. We do not use web beacons, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising cookies. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
Affiliate links and third-party services
Tipply shows no advertising and has no advertising partners. Some pages include affiliate 'buy' links to retailers such as Amazon; if you click one you are taken to that retailer and we may earn a commission on a purchase. We do not share your personal information with them — once you follow the link, the retailer's own privacy policy applies. Tipply also relies on a few service providers to operate (our sign-in providers Google and GitHub, mapping for the nearby feature, and Google Analytics as described above); their handling of any data is governed by their own privacy policies.
CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)
Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:
Request that a business that collects a consumer's personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
Request that a business that sells a consumer's personal data, not sell the consumer's personal data.

Children's Information
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.
Tipply does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
